Sustainabilty and Upcycling

1. RAJASTHANI KATHPUTLIS

Brief: By taking inspiration from any Indian art/craft, make a toy for a child by upcycling old materials.
Inspiration: Rajasthani Kathputlis (Puppets)
User: Small children.
Materials used: Old bottles, containers, mseal, googly eyes, yarn, old printed cloth, strings and beads.
Brief Backstory: Rajasthani kathputlis is an old art form, and few people know about it. Seeing the need to revive the art form and keeping it alive, the puppets were given a modern twist for the upcoming generation to play with.


2. PLASTICS – UPCYCLING

Brief: Upcycle plastics in a creative way which can be used in our daily lives.
Materials used: Plastic bags (Coloured), old bangles, wire frame, sun board, spray paints (orange, pink, red and black) and plastic sheets.
User: Youth and home makers
Brief backstory: Plastics being one of the harmful things for mother earth, takes years to degrade into the soil. If burned, it releases toxic fumes and quite often stray and aquatic animals die due to choking on them. One of the solutions to save the mother Earth is to upcycle plastics into different products.
